这三个词都可以和“追踪、痕迹”有关，但侧重点不同。你可以这样记：

1. trail /treɪl/

重点是：一路留下来的痕迹，你可以顺着它追下去。

• The soldiers were on the trail of the enemy.
  士兵正在追踪敌人。

还有一个非常常见的意思：

3. track /træk/

重点是：沿着明确的轨迹追踪，或者持续监测某人的位置/进展。

• We can track the package online.
  我们可以网上追踪包裹。

比如敌人逃跑了：

trail
→ 敌人一路留下的踪迹

We followed the enemy's trail.
我们沿着敌人的踪迹追。

trace
→ 找到敌人留下的微小线索/痕迹

We found traces of the enemy.
我们发现了敌人留下的痕迹。

track
→ 追踪敌人的行动/位置

We tracked the enemy.
我们追踪敌人。

trail = 留下来的路
trace = 微小的线索
track = 持续追踪

在你现在看的一战视频里，如果说 track the enemy / track enemy movements，通常就是“追踪敌人/追踪敌军行动”；如果说 follow the trail，则更强调“沿着留下的踪迹追”。
